We Are...
A Biblical Church
Huntersville Lutheran is a biblical church. This means we cling
to the bible as the basis for our faith and life. We believe and teach
that every word found in the pages of Scripture comes from God
and are completely reliable and true. It is in His Word that God makes
us aware of our problem–sin– and our inability to fix this problem ourselves. In His Word, God also reveals to us His love and His solution to our problem–His Son, Jesus, our Savior.

A Christian Church
Huntersville Lutheran is a Christian church. This means we believe and teach Jesus lived and died for the sins of the whole world–for a sinner just like you. Apart from Jesus, there is no forgiveness, no comfort, no hope, no eternal life for mankind. But God, in his undeserved love, offers you full and free forgiveness of all your sins and the certain hope of eternal life as gifts. And it is all because of what His Son, Jesus, did for you through his perfect life, innocent death, and victorious resurrection.
A Lutheran Church
Huntersville Lutheran is a Lutheran Church. This means we are a church that stands confidently on the truths of the Bible reclaimed by Martin Luther during the Protestant Reformation. These truths are often expressed in Latin: Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, Sola Scriptura. We believe and teach that mankind is saved by grace alone, through faith alone, on the basis of scripture alone.
A Confessional Church
Huntersville Lutheran is a Confessional Church. This means we hold to a set of formal statements of faith. Huntersville Lutheran follows the Bible first and foremost. We find that the teachings of the Bible are correctly represented in the Lutheran Confessions. These documents were prepared in the 16th century during the Protestant Reformation. Undeniably, life is not the same today as it was in Germany in the 1500s, but fortunately for all of us, God remains the same forever. The truths of grace and love and redemption and the practical wisdom for life that God has given us through his word are just as real and useful as they were when Christians 500 years ago sat down to summarize them so that God's people could see their God better.
A Member of an International Church Body
Huntersville Lutheran does not exist as a stand-alone church. We are a member of an international church body known as WELS (Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod). Since 1858, the congregations of WELS have been working together to do, as a whole, what individual congregations cannot. WELS trains pastors, teachers, and other ministerial staff. WELS sends missionaries all over the world–everywhere from Taipei, Taiwan, to Huntersville, NC. They publish excellent theological and practical resources for the church. They do considerable relief work wherever there is a need. Huntersville Lutheran is a proud member congregation of the WELS.
